Everyone perform, but do not realize. It has been proven that unconscious bias is commonly held against diverse races, genders and other marginalized groups. The majority of us view our group we’re a part of positively, however, it is possible to feel this bias against ourselves. Implicit bias plays a role in the first thoughts you make about someone when you first meet them. Your brain has the ability to make accurate judgements even if there is insufficient information.
Your implicit bias can be shaped from a myriad of elements. Your previous experiences, sources and other elements are examples of implicit bias. They all contribute and create the subconscious thoughts. One thing you should keep in mind is that since implicit bias is unconscious you are able to be unbiased towards someone while holding your implicit biases. In the end, implicit bias is something that your brain is able to detect but you can not control. One way to overcome this issue is being aware that it exists, as well as actively seeking to understand how it can impact different parts in your daily life.
